After stepping heavily down from seemed like the 1 millionth rock on my already shot legs, I thought, what the heck am I doing?
I'd already 9 more hours than I'd usually hike in a week (normally it's zero), surely this doesn't count as recovery? My pack weighs as much as a toddler, and the skin of my feet is an alert for a mass exodus at any moment. What the heck am I doing?
Doing what I don't usually make time for. RIGHT.
This week I traded solo highway intimacy with my aerobars for climbing one more forest stair, and then another one and another. I spent time with friends on blow up 1 inch mattresses eating just-add-water meals, instead of the usual and it was awesome.
I might actually be more sore than I was than last Monday, so physical "recovery" is questionable, but overall recovery is definite.
